B&W Trailer Hitches
Known for producing towing products of exceptionally high quality, B&W Trailer hitches has come a long way since its humble beginning in the small town of Humboldt, Kansas. Formed in 1987 as B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc. by Joe Works and Roger Baker, the initial goal was to build the highest quality truck beds on the market. Word spread about the quality of B&W’s beds and business grew quickly.
At that time, most gooseneck hitches were either welded or bolted in place, with one adjustable option that allowed a large plate to fold down, but required a huge hole in the truck bed. Recognizing a need for something better, Joe and Roger designed a gooseneck hitch with a ball that could pulled out, turned over and stowed beneath the bed. The mounting framework they designed bolted to the truck frame and required no welding, drilling, or bed removal to install. The Turnoverball revolutionized the gooseneck hitch industry and has been copied by nearly every gooseneck manufacturer today.
Building on the success of their truck beds and the Turnoverball, B&W has grown steadily over the years. The product line now includes the highly engineered, adjustable Tow & Stow receiver hitch, the Biker Bar, which allows the trailering of motorcycles without the need for straps, and a full line of RV hitches. Over the last few years B&W has focused more attention on the expansion and growth of the RV line and there’s been a steady increase in the popularity of those hitches. A testament to the success of the RV line was the 2015 Trailer Life Readers’ Choice Gold Award for the Companion RV hitch, an award based solely on votes from Trailer Life readers and users of RV hitches. Available in both standard and slider models in different weight ratings, the Companion and Patriot RV hitch line provides an exceptionally smooth and quiet connection between truck and camper and covers just about any need for an RV customer.
Now the sole owner and president of B&W, Joe Works remains involved in the continuous design and improvement of innovative hitch solutions. Over the years, Joe has guided the growth of B&W which now employs a skilled workforce of over 350 craftsmen and craftswomen in a state of the art facility using the most technologically advanced equipment available. The quality of B&W products has always been a primary goal, but along with that is a continual focus on overall customer service and a strong relationship with customers. “We believe in building innovative, high quality products that meet the needs of real users,” says Joe. “We don’t want to get so big that we forget our roots.” With a strong heritage already in place, B&W is always striving to improve and expand its product line while continuing a tradition of American craftsmanship and manufacturing.
